European prices for skim milk powder continue to decline

Over the past few weeks, prices for skim milk powder (SMP) in Europe have once again started to decline. Following a brief increase in prices at the end of February, demand decreased, leading to the downward trend. Buyers have fulfilled their short-term needs, reducing their purchasing activity. Additionally, since milk supplies are sufficient to meet processing needs, the issue of meeting the required volume until the end of the year is not urgent. Against the backdrop of sufficient milk supplies, SMP production continues.

According to USDA and Clal.it, the price range for conventional and edible SMP with 1.25% butterfat, free on board at the port, across all first sales in Europe, is currently between $2,575 and $2,900 per metric ton, as of the period of March 6 – 17, 2023. This information is issued biweekly.
